RADARSAT ANTARCTIC MAPPING PROJECT MODIFIED ANTARCTIC MAPPING MISSION 2000 www-bprc.mps.ohio-state.edu/rsl Mini Mosaics are 10m, 16-bit binary mosaics of select areas of fast moving glaciers in Antarctic (see map.jpg). A manual geographic correction was applied to the mosaics to correct for small offsets in gelocation (see DOCS/mini_mos_offset.pdf) README ------ Table of Contents 1. Introduction 2. beta product 3. Basic explanation of the files and their format 4. Map reference 5. Acknowledgements 6. Directory structure 1. Introduction During September-November 2000, The RADARSAT Antarctic Mapping Project (RAMP) acquired SAR data over Antarctica. Coverage extended from 80-degree S latitude to the coast. The data have been orthorectified and compiled into 25 m mosaics. Fast glacier flow regimes have been selected for special processing using Fine-1 beam data. Compiled as mini-mosaics, these products consist of 10m 1-look data. There are 33 minimosaics and the data and metadata are presented here. 2. Beta product This is a beta product, the final product is awaiting geolocation refinement. This refinement of the final grand block adjustment consists of a least squares adjustment amongst all the individual blocks. The geolocation information associated with the beta mini-mosaics is based on a block adjustment unique to each block. The difference between the final and beta version geometry is expected to be about 50 m. 3. Basic Explanation of files and their format Binary files are in Polar Stereographic projection, WGS_84 There are 4 kinds of files in the directory: 1. bin files - These are generic binaries, 2 in each sub-directory for 10m and 250m data. 2. hdr files - These are the header files containing the metadata for the generic binaries. 3. map file - This file has the map coordinates and projection information for the 10m data. 4. jpg file - Quicklook image file. For example: mm_01.jpg - Quicklook image file mm_01_10.bin - 10m, 16-bit, generic binary data. mm_01_10.hdr - header file for the 10m 16bit binary. mm_01_10.map - Map projection and corner coordinates for the 10m binary data file. mm_01_250.bin - 250m, 8-bit, generic binary data. mm_01_250.hdr - header file for the 250m 8bit binary data. 4. Map reference The image file called 'map.jpg' in this directory shows the spatial information for each image data. 5. Acknowledgements RAMP is a collaboration between NASA and the Canadian Space Agency. Collaborators on the project are: The Ohio State University, VEXCEL Corporation, The Alaska SAR Facility and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. 6. Directory Structure The center latitude/longitude information for each minimosaic is shown in the look -up table below: directory Latitude Longitude name deg min deg min ------------------------------------------ mm_01 75 23 S 75 58 W mm_02 75 24 S 97 21 W mm_03 75 20 S 108 25 W mm_04 75 07 S 135 57 W mm_05 75 31 S 159 35 E mm_06 69 04 S 152 29 E mm_07 67 41 S 146 04 E mm_08 66 30 S 135 21 E mm_09 67 17 S 129 17 E mm_10 66 59 S 114 50 E mm_11 66 58 S 109 31 E mm_12 67 15 S 99 46 E mm_13 69 52 S 71 50 E mm_14 71 10 S 70 49 E mm_15 74 17 S 72 49 E mm_16 74 16 S 63 03 E mm_17 72 53 S 61 09 E mm_18 72 43 S 67 18 E mm_19 69 50 S 67 21 E mm_20 67 45 S 57 16 E mm_21 67 02 S 51 49 E mm_22 68 23 S 47 31 E mm_23 70 20 S 39 25 E mm_24 71 09 S 30 54 E mm_25 71 31 S 27 28 E mm_26 71 26 S 21 17 E mm_27 71 05 S 13 27 E mm_28 71 31 S 10 19 E mm_29 71 25 S 1 45 W mm_30 72 25 S 2 13 W mm_31 73 45 S 8 24 W mm_32 74 11 S 14 19 W mm_33 74 53 S 19 53 W file structure: mm_01: mm_01.jpg 41705 mm_01_10.bin 1080520962 (File size = bytes) mm_01_10.hdr 248 mm_01_10.map 213 mm_01_250.bin 864734 mm_01_250.hdr 1050 mm_02: mm_02.jpg 35971 mm_02_10.bin 1538396802 mm_02_10.hdr 248 mm_02_10.map 214 mm_02_250.bin 1230684 mm_02_250.hdr 1050 mm_03: mm_03.jpg 53336 mm_03_10.bin 1235766082 mm_03_10.hdr 248 mm_03_10.map 215 mm_03_250.bin 989298 mm_03_250.hdr 1050 mm_04: mm_04.jpg 54804 mm_04_10.bin 2029235362 mm_04_10.hdr 249 mm_04_10.map 216 mm_04_250.bin 1622468 mm_04_250.hdr 1050 mm_05: mm_05.jpg 35413 mm_05_10.bin 1258684162 mm_05_10.hdr 249 mm_05_10.map 213 mm_05_250.bin 1007454 mm_05_250.hdr 1050 mm_06: mm_06.jpg 51914 mm_06_10.bin 718260162 mm_06_10.hdr 248 mm_06_10.map 214 mm_06_250.bin 574816 mm_06_250.hdr 1050 mm_07: mm_07.jpg 70830 mm_07_10.bin 884959042 mm_07_10.hdr 248 mm_07_10.map 215 mm_07_250.bin 708708 mm_07_250.hdr 1050 mm_08: mm_08.jpg 57555 mm_08_10.bin 373410882 mm_08_10.hdr 249 mm_08_10.map 215 mm_08_250.bin 299106 mm_08_250.hdr 1050 mm_09: mm_09.jpg 47858 mm_09_10.bin 225339842 mm_09_10.hdr 248 mm_09_10.map 215 mm_09_250.bin 180238 mm_09_250.hdr 1050 mm_10: mm_10.jpg 50881 mm_10_10.bin 590574402 mm_10_10.hdr 248 mm_10_10.map 214 mm_10_250.bin 472503 mm_10_250.hdr 1050 mm_11: mm_11.jpg 57997 mm_11_10.bin 568175602 mm_11_10.hdr 249 mm_11_10.map 213 mm_11_250.bin 454575 mm_11_250.hdr 1050 mm_12: mm_12.jpg 34525 mm_12_10.bin 1209335362 mm_12_10.hdr 248 mm_12_10.map 213 mm_12_250.bin 967470 mm_12_250.hdr 1050 mm_13: mm_13.jpg 44893 mm_13_10.bin 1987662402 mm_13_10.hdr 249 mm_13_10.map 211 mm_13_250.bin 1590300 mm_13_250.hdr 1050 mm_14: mm_14.jpg 53457 mm_14_10.bin 1684360002 mm_14_10.hdr 247 mm_14_10.map 211 mm_14_250.bin 1347584 mm_14_250.hdr 1050 mm_15: mm_15.jpg 22583 mm_15_10.bin 1437961762 mm_15_10.hdr 247 mm_15_10.map 211 mm_15_250.bin 1150800 mm_15_250.hdr 1051 mm_16: mm_16.jpg 42606 mm_16_10.bin 1789280322 mm_16_10.hdr 247 mm_16_10.map 211 mm_16_250.bin 1430754 mm_16_250.hdr 1050 mm_17: mm_17.jpg 32169 mm_17_10.bin 1282017282 mm_17_10.hdr 249 mm_17_10.map 211 mm_17_250.bin 1026562 mm_17_250.hdr 1050 mm_18: mm_18.jpg 44960 mm_18_10.bin 1783012642 mm_18_10.hdr 247 mm_18_10.map 211 mm_18_250.bin 1425950 mm_18_250.hdr 1050 mm_19: mm_19.jpg 40367 mm_19_10.bin 1687918562 mm_19_10.hdr 247 mm_19_10.map 211 mm_19_250.bin 1350846 mm_19_250.hdr 1050 mm_20: mm_20.jpg 61794 mm_20_10.bin 974913282 mm_20_10.hdr 247 mm_20_10.map 213 mm_20_250.bin 780530 mm_20_250.hdr 1050 mm_21: mm_21.jpg 46734 mm_21_10.bin 262608962 mm_21_10.hdr 246 mm_21_10.map 213 mm_21_250.bin 210240 mm_21_250.hdr 1050 mm_22: mm_22.jpg 52520 mm_22_10.bin 1603623682 mm_22_10.hdr 247 mm_22_10.map 213 mm_22_250.bin 1283698 mm_22_250.hdr 1050 mm_23: mm_23.jpg 46462 mm_23_10.bin 348542242 mm_23_10.hdr 247 mm_23_10.map 213 mm_23_250.bin 279300 mm_23_250.hdr 1050 mm_24: mm_24.jpg 26355 mm_24_10.bin 832374082 mm_24_10.hdr 248 mm_24_10.map 213 mm_24_250.bin 666690 mm_24_250.hdr 1050 mm_25: mm_25.jpg 41177 mm_25_10.bin 1585798242 mm_25_10.hdr 248 mm_25_10.map 212 mm_25_250.bin 1268400 mm_25_250.hdr 1050 mm_26: mm_26.jpg 63161 mm_26_10.bin 1967104482 mm_26_10.hdr 248 mm_26_10.map 211 mm_26_250.bin 1573184 mm_26_250.hdr 1050 mm_27: mm_27.jpg 52945 mm_27_10.bin 1637925282 mm_27_10.hdr 248 mm_27_10.map 211 mm_27_250.bin 1311090 mm_27_250.hdr 1050 mm_28: mm_28.jpg 59996 mm_28_10.bin 1113620802 mm_28_10.hdr 248 mm_28_10.map 211 mm_28_250.bin 890967 mm_28_250.hdr 1050 mm_29: mm_29.jpg 51875 mm_29_10.bin 1875148002 mm_29_10.hdr 248 mm_29_10.map 211 mm_29_250.bin 1500540 mm_29_250.hdr 1050 mm_30: mm_30.jpg 33193 mm_30_10.bin 1140380642 mm_30_10.hdr 248 mm_30_10.map 211 mm_30_250.bin 912240 mm_30_250.hdr 1050 mm_31: mm_31.jpg 44764 mm_31_10.bin 626540002 mm_31_10.hdr 248 mm_31_10.map 213 mm_31_250.bin 501319 mm_31_250.hdr 1050 mm_32: mm_32.jpg 23146 mm_32_10.bin 760575122 mm_32_10.hdr 248 mm_32_10.map 213 mm_32_250.bin 607898 mm_32_250.hdr 1050 mm_33: mm_33.jpg 54102 mm_33_10.bin 1707910722 mm_33_10.hdr 248 mm_33_10.map 213 mm_33_250.bin 1367040 mm_33_250.hdr 1050
