SAR Data validation This folder contains two examples of Radarsat-1 single-look, complex SAR data. The real and complex parts are radiometrically calibrated measurements - that is computed powers can be expressed in dB. The file also contains a piece of code giving the format for reading the files. For each example: 1) Show that the histograms of the real and imaginary parts of the data are Guassian with zero mean (or not!) 2) Describe the shape of the amplitude histogram 3) Describe the shape of the power histogram 4) show that the phase histogram represents a Probability function that is constant with phase. 5) Verify that the data are single look. 6) compute the mean sigma nought in dB. 7) Discuss in geophysical terms why the backscatter coefficient differs across Antarctica.
