Collected: July 1987, S Barents Sea, 20 mwd, modern mud

Specimen with the apertural end cracked open (a) and the details of the outer (b) and inner (c) surface. The small round bodies and the gifs, particularly noticeable on the outer surface, are likely a secondary fungus overgrowth

Collected: July 1987, S Barents Sea, 20 mwd, modern mud

Remarks: A large agglutinating foraminifer common for the Barents-Kara shelf; abundant in organic-rich mud from any shelf depth where such sediment occurs (20 through 300m); often comprises the bulk of foraminiferal biomass; rare to absent in oligotrophic areas and in sands; has a low fossilization potential.
